Warped!

Choosing between options is hard. Decisions, they define who we are. It define the way we think, we act and generally what kind of persons we are. So, if you`ll ask me to choose between realistic and distorted art, it`ll take me some time to process that idea. To be honest, I really don`t know what to choose between the two. Its because the idea of realism and distortion are way too opposite. In realism, we tend to exactly copy even the slightest details of our subject whereas in distortion, we try to give a different approach to our subject. These styles are directly opposite from each other. Just like the illustrations above, you can observe how different realism is compared to distorted art. In realistic style, the main objective of the artist is to illustrate his or her subject as if it was photographed just like Victor Rodriguez did in his stunning realistic painting of a woman. On the other hand, in Distorted style, the artist aims to make a masterpiece so subtle that the viewers will have to feel and conceptualize from the hidden meaning and message of the artwork.

As an amateur artist, I want to explore different styles. I want to know what kind of art I can excel in. In this case, between realistic and distorted art, I would probably choose the distorted art. Why? Because it portrays the artistic view of the artist. It reveals his or her emotions during the process of making art. It is unique and one of a kind. Many artists can do the same realistic art, but not the same distorted art, simply because each person is different from each other. No person in this world is directly the same as the other. That makes distorted art limitless. An artist can do whatever he or she wants to do in his subject. He can freely change the appearance of his subject for it to look more attractive and one of a kind. That is why I appreciate distorted art more. Because it gives every artist a definition. A difference. A style in which he can be recognized and known for.

Doing distorted art reflects the creativity of the artist. It shows how he see things in a different perspective. His use of color, strokes and techniques imitates the creativity within him. And by means of art, he can freely express his ideas and share them to the world. With a simple color manipulation, he can give people different guesses or concepts about its meaning. It connects people to each other. I honestly appreciate both realistic and distorted art. In realistic artworks, I admire the details and the coloring techniques of the artist while in distorted art, I appreciate its exclusivity. Art is amazing. It changes people and it changes lives. For me, art is all about freely expressing one's thoughts and emotions in a creative way. I think that's what's important.

On the Spot!

Last Thursday  November 29, 2012, there was an event called the PRISAA Laguna. I was not aware of this certain annual sports development program. That program answered my question, why are there lots of people on varsity outfits around the LPL campus? I was curious that day, but actually proud somehow. Because our school will proudly host this huge event. Then we were asked by our professor to watch the program and then we were given a task wherein we have to draw the happenings we witnessed a while ago. It was shocking, actually, `cause I don`t have any idea on what to draw in that blank piece of paper. Then I decided to just draw the ever amazing Lyceum Spartans Dance Troupe in appreciation to their breath-taking performance that they presented in front of different people across Laguna. That was nerve-wracking. Seeing amazing people showcasing their amazing talent.

Well, I can say that I enjoyed what I did. I was contented with my output. I was inspired to do that activity because I was surrounded by my friends who happen to be awesome artists as well. We teased each other`s work a lot, but that`s just for fun. That is how we stay positive all the time. Just laughing and having fun with the simplest of things. I learn a lot of things from them and I am very eager to share my knowledge to them too. Doing impromptu art is challenging because you`ll need to come up with a bright ideas as fast as your brain can. It is challenging because it`ll squeeze out the creativity out of you to do the best you can in a limited space and time. But I can also say that doing impromptu art is fun. Because we were able to immediately think of ideas to put into our papers. We were able to finish the activity with such limited resources. We were able to illustrate our creativity.

Art has been and always will be my passion. I expected a lot of drawings and illustration activities when I decided to take AB Multimedia Arts as my college program. Doing art is always fun! Especially when you`re surrounded with people you are comfortable to be with. Also, its been months since the last time I draw something with full effort. So doing traditional art again feels incredible. I want to further enhance this gift. This gift that was lent to me by our savior. I want to learn a whole lot of things from my professors. I am looking forward for tomorrow. Because I know that tomorrow is gonna be better.

Art will take us everywhere. I believe that.

Rebirth of Art

If you`ll ask me what era is the most influential in the field of arts, I would probably say its the Renaissance. Why? Because it gave another definition to arts. Because of it, people suddenly gave importance to arts. Also in this era, three of the world`s most eminent painters of their time were globally recognized. These were Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael Sanzio and Michelangelo Buonarroti. It is in this era where arts bloomed. Arts, Music and Literature were given such attention. It showed how important art is and the vital role it plays in history. It is regarded as the "rebirth" of the ancient arts. As time goes by, artists adapt the developments in art. And there appeared different styles and techniques used by artists all around the world to come up with a new way if expression. Because of this era, artists discovered new and better ways to improve their paintings and sculpture. This era proved to be a period in which great transformation of the artist as they occupy a higher place in society, for art became more then just a craft. It is in this time where arts were revived, where people were captured by the beauty and mystery of our world.

Leonardo da Vinci was regarded as the "Renaissance man" due to his exceptional contribution to arts during this time. Although there are a whole lot more artists who contributed to the development of arts during this time, it it undeniable that Leonardo da Vinci was the most celebrated painter of them all. I personally admire him because he used art to express himself, his emotions and his religion. He showed his belief through his paintings and sculptures. Some of his world class works include the "Mona Lisa", "The Virgin of the Rocks" and "The Last Supper". Leonardo clearly understands the usage of line perspective as seen in his works. It is also in this era where techniques were made to bring up something unique in piece of art. An artist from Florence named Giotto was one of the first painters to paint in his own new style. His works depicts human emotions and the bodies look solid, and the background had perspective. Michelangelo was also regarded as a "Renaissance Man" for he is not only an artist, but also a sculptor and an architect. He is also a religious person. He is the one to design the dome of St. Peter's church in Rome. The ideas and techniques used by Leonardo, Giotto and Michelangelo were copied and improved by other artists around the world.

For me, Renaissance brought change in this world. Without it, arts and crafts would never bloom as it did back in time. Thanks to these artists who strive to improve arts for they did a really great job. Their life`s work will be given such huge acknowledgement. Because of them, people appreciated arts. It gave arts a chance to improve itself. A chance to show the world how important it is to express oneself. Without arts, this world is but a boring and plain dimension. The works of art of these artists will forever be treasured in our hearts. Surely, the renaissance shaped the world we have today.

A Masterpiece of all time.

Mona Lisa, a phenomenal painting that captivated the hearts of the people across the globe. A masterpiece made of a world class painter, Leonardo da Vinci. It was said to be the best known work of art in the world. Surely, da Vinci is one of the most notable and well known artist of his time. He continuously inspire hundreds, or perhaps millions, of artists around the world. He is a person of pure talent, who pursued his passion for art and had successfully practice his profession very well. Succeeding generation of artists were inspired to be at their best because of da Vinci`s extravagant works. The very famous portrait of Mona Lisa is just one in his astonishing collection. Some of his works include portraits or paintings of religious figures like angels, saints and even the last supper, the baptism, and the annunciation. This is one of the reasons that made Leonardo unique. He used his gift, his talent, to expand religion to different races that will see his paintings. His paintings depict what kind of person Leonardo da Vinci is.

The Mona Lisa is said to be a portrait of a real woman. Her name is Lisa Gherardini, wife of Fracesco del Giocondo. It was painted during the 16th century in Italy. It is currently owned by the french government and is in Musee du Louvre in Paris, France. It became famous in mid-19th century because artists of the symbolist movement began to appreciate it. On August 21, 1991, the portrait was stolen. After two years, the thief was arrested. It was Vincenzo Peruggia, who intended to bring the portrait back to Italy. Mona Lisa also survived multiple attempts on destroying it. In 1956, the poor old girl was first scarred with acid, and then attacked with a rock. Bulletproof glass protected it when, in 1974, a disabled woman, protesting against the Louvre’s policy on handicapped visitors, threw red paint at the picture. The glass again saved the picture only three years ago, when an angry Russian woman, denied French  citizenship, threw a teacup at the painting. Amazing, isn`t it? To know how people give importance to art. They protect this masterpiece with all their might against people who just can`t appreciate its beauty.

Behind Mona Lisa`s smile lies deep mysteries. Mysteries in which only its true owner, Leonardo da Vinci can reveal. Secrets that were said to be hidden within the portrait`s beauty. Many people examined the portrait. Professional men tried to resolve these so called mysteries. There are articles that said that Mona Lisa is da Vinci`s female version. Some say that she is da Vinci`s dream, which he then illustrated. There are many stories that surround the world`s most famous painting. Reasons why it is controversial. The point why it is famous. People have their own perceptions, concepts, and viewpoint to different things. We have our own separate minds. But Leonardo da Vinci is the one and only person that can truly end these speculations.

In spite of these theories and speculations about Mona Lisa, it is undeniable that this portrait changed the perception of people about art. People began to have interest to different arts. This world will always be grateful for Leonardo da Vinci`s exceptional contribution in the field of arts and crafts.

Week 10: The sky is the limit.

If you`re an artist, you obviously will always aim for perfection. You will always try to exert all the best out of you to produce a well-crafted art. But we all know that perfection is just a word which we can`t probably reach. We can`t please everybody. So for me, to enhance once creativity, you should let go of the fear of being criticized. Just continue doing what makes you happy. Do not mind others who would try to stop you to do what you honestly wanted to do. Instead, make them your motivation. Prove them wrong. Show them that you are getting better at this. Work hard to achieve your goals. Motivate yourself because no one else in the world could motivate you more than yourself. Do not be afraid to stand up and show the world what you`re made of. Show them that you are eager to learn, to start something, to practice and to finish your very own artwork. Yes, there are other people out there who are better than you. People who are capable of doing greater works than you do. But always keep in mind that every professional and expert artist started the same way as you were. They were also once a beginner. Make them your inspiration to improve yourself more. Grab a pencil and start sketching ideas!

Enjoy your life. Have fun with your friends and family. Overcome your fears. Do not hesitate to start something new. Always try to improve your skills in a particular field. Surround yourself with even better artists. That way, you will be pushed to improve yourself out for you to be as great as them. Do not try to be somebody else. Have your own techniques and styles that will represent your personality and in which people can distinguish you from other artists. Make a mark and be unique. Be different from everybody else because that way, you will be special. And last of all, have faith. Believe in Him and believe in yourself. Make yourself proud. Express your thoughts and feelings in a creative way.Finish something that you can proudly say yours. In return, inspire someone to do the same.

As a student, I am trying my very best to learn and to improve myself. Despite of the difficulties I meet, I still wander in this unique and beautiful world with my heart filled with hope that someday, I will be contented and happy of what I am doing right now.

Week 9: Blog Encapsulated Memories.

Blogging enables ordinary people like me to freely express my thoughts and ideas about a certain topic. It allows me to write the thoughts stuck in my head that I can`t tell others. It is a place wherein I feel like I can express myself so much without worrying what others would think about me. I can type down the words I don`t have the courage to tell to somebody. As time goes by, things change. It is good to write down the happenings in your life and put it in a blog. After some time, have a minute or two to read what you`ve blogged about and remember the happy moments, the laughter you shared with your family and friends, the moment you felt true happiness, the once in a lifetime chances you had, and your personal experiences. Whats unique and awesome about blogging is that it is limitless. It does`nt have boundaries. You can blog about anything. You are free to publish anything you want. Besides, it is your blog. You must decide on what to put in it.

I`ve been into blogging for almost a year now. Although I`m not that active and famous, I`m pretty proud of my blog. I interact with other people across the country. Just like what I`ve said in one of my previous posts, I discovered my interest through tumblr. I was inspired to do what other artists do. I want to be the best at this field. And I work hard to achieve it. I practice vector art as much as I can. I write down the deepest thoughts and feeling concealed in my heart in every text post I publish. I browse for blogs I`m interested about. I follow art blogs that keep me inspired to improve myself out. I think that`s whats important. To continue what you do as long as it makes you happy.

My blog is where I put my heart and soul. And there, my memories shall lie forever.

Week 8: Cyberlife.

The new media has changed our lives. It became a part of our daily activities and routines. We connect, chat, and talk with people through the use of internet. Yes, it is very advantageous in a sense that it enables us to connect to our friends and loved ones more efficiently, it is very convenient, and it is a medium for us to receive vital and reliable information from other people. We can easily communicate with people in different places around the globe if we have access to the internet. Yes. I`am a teenager and yes, internet is my bestfriend. Why? Because I spend most of my time in front of the computer. I know that its not healthy for me to continue this habit but I cant keep help it. The modern generation depends much on the use of internet. I use it to communicate, to freely express my thoughts about certain topics and to just have fun. In a simple way, internet makes me happy. That`s what`s important.

For me, the effect of new media is neutral. I mean there`s positive and negative effects. In the positive side, internet exposes me to various people around the globe, how they live, their point-of-views, culture and a whole lot more. Because of the internet, I was able to discover more about myself and who I want to become in the near future. On the contrary, internet also is a medium for others to influence people with their bad habits. Their is the existence of pornographic sites, hacking, piracy, cyberbullying and even cybersex. It is in our hands if we will choose to be affected by these kinds of sites. As for me, I use the internet for good purposes. I am not taking it for granted. I choose to use it in the right way because I have my principles and I  am an educated person with morals and dignity.

Internet or the new media is like a new world. A new dimension wherein people are not separated by races, culture or beliefs. It is a world where everyone is equal. Each opinion is respected. Each person is rightful of whatever he or she wants everyone to know. It is our choice if we will live our cyberlives for good or for not.

Week 7: Raindrops from heaven.

What I usually do during cold, lonely, rainy days is to sleep. Probably because its an opportunity to finally enjoy a long, priceless nap in your warm bed covered with comfortable sheets and pillows. I mean, who doesn`t want to have rest after all the stress you`ve been through every single day. Right? But of course, I don`t spend days of free time just to waste them. I also use them for self entertainment purposes. I download a lot of foreign movies I like, wait for it to complete its downloading process, then grab something to eat and drink and watch the awesome movies. I find it entertaining and fun although I watch these movies alone. Recently, I already watched The Vow, 21 Jump Street, Captain America, and Forever waiting. It took me around 4-5 hours to completely download all these movies, then I watch them whenever I feel like watching them. Other than watching movies, I also like to practice using Photoshop. These are the times when I feel like I need to do a vector art and its like my mind says It`ll be fun to have another vector to add to my works.

My rainy day activities usually depend on my mood. Sometimes I`m happy and I dance around the room a lot and play really loud, dance-y music. Sometimes, I`m sad and just sit around, drink hot chocolate, play random music from my favorite artists and surf the net. People think rainy days are sad and boring. But for me, its not. Its just another day. Another gift from God. I like how people say that the rain represents blessings from heaven. It makes me feel like I`m really blessed with all the things I have right now. My family, friends, relatives, teachers, classmates, and everyone I meet that becomes a part of my life. People who inspire me and motivate me to be a better person and to continue whatever I`m doing as long as it makes me happy.

Rain also reminds me that life will always try to bring the best out of ourselves. Just like what Jackie Chan said in one of his movies, The Karate Kid, " Life will knock us down. What matters is how we choose to get back up." We can always find a way to solve things out. There are never ending possibilities if we believe in ourselves. Life is not always sunny. There are times when storms are coming to test us. Just believe you can and trust Him. There`s always a rainbow after the rain. :D

Week 6: My Online World.

Internet brought us convenience. It brought us change. Change in our daily lives, and how we deal and interact with others around us. Internet is a very helpful tool in so many various ways. It helps people communicate no matter how far they are from each other. It helps people discover more about themselves. Just like what it did to me. When I discovered this blog site called Tumblr, I browsed for art blogs. Then I saw how awesome and interesting digital arts is. This influenced me to take AB Multimedia Arts as my college program. I thought that doing this vector art or digital art is one thing I enjoy and I don`t want it to be just my hobby, but to actually earn from it. I want to improve my skills and to enhance this talent that God entrusted to me. I want to be well known at this field. And I want people to appreciate this form of Art. Also, one of dreams is to inspire other people. Just like how I got inspired by Filipino artists I found on the net. Without internet, I`m probably lost by now, not knowing what to do with my life in the future.

Through internet, we can easily access different sites where we can socialize with other people all around the globe. We can even make new friends online. It is good to know how fast development in global communication is right now. Through the internet, we are able to discover more of the world we live in. We can socialize with other races with different culture and tradition than ours. Because of the internet, we can still keep in touch with our friends even though we are apart from each other. But we must always remember that internet also has its disadvantages. Some people use it in the wrong way. Proof of this are the pornographic sites and even satanic online games which are very popular to teenagers nowadays. It is in our hands if we will choose to make the right decision to use the internet in a rightful manner or use it in the wrong way. Also, we must be careful with the strangers we meet online, because the world is not a very safe place anymore.

Internet gave me so much to be thankful for. It gave me the opportunity to discover more about myself and my interests. It enabled me to communicate with my treasured friends in just one snap. It gave me the idea of how I want to be in the future.

INTERNET, THANK YOU.

Week 5: My Second Home.

Being a part of the MMA Family is something I treasure a lot. It makes me feel like I found a place where I truly belong, surrounded by people I` am comfortable to be with most of the time. I` am grateful to be a part of this family, although it is not that big as the other college departments in our University. I am thankful to have this group of friends, this circle of awesome people and this one, loving famILY. Because of them, I `am motivated to do my best all the time and to actually exert the best effort I could give in every project or assignment given to us. Although we`ve been together for only quite some time, we knew each other very well. We understand each other`s mood swings, strengths, weaknesses, capabilities, limitations and a whole lot more.
Even the higher levels from MMA are also great to be with. They gave us tips on how to manage our time properly, how to accomplish tasks more efficiently, and basically how to be a MMA student. They shared their achievements and personal experiences for us to learn from them. We had the MMA General Assembly last Thursday, July 19, 2012. We had a chance to talk about certain points about our soon-to-be MMA Society, which is awesome, and we shared the same room as our ates and kuyas in the MMA Family. They are fun, and energetic and very welcoming.

Week 4: As One.

In life, we meet different kinds of people. We meet true and loyal friends along the way towards our dreams. Each day we spend with them is truly immeasurable. We always try to spend every minute with them as fun and exciting as possible. In college, finding new friends isn't  that easy. I have to socialize with people I don't even know. But, because I want to have fun and enjoy college, I`m trying to have close friends already. As time goes by, I immediately felt comfortable with my block mates ` companies. I`am trying to engage myself in talking even with the shy-type people in our class. Being a lycean is something I `am actually proud of. Lyceum is very warm and welcoming and it actually feels like my second home. Being a part of the CAS Department and our section, MMA 1-1, are incredibly awesome. It feels like I`m a part of this huge, happy family that consists of different people with the same interests and goal. And this is to be successful practitioner in our career path. To be able to do so, we need... TEAMWORK.

In everything we do, we do not do it all by ourselves. We do it with the help of other people around us. We need help and guidance from our family and friends. Teamwork helps us to improve the outcome of something we wish to do or to perform. In college, teamwork is a very important specially during group projects or presentations. It is the key to a more unified group work. Teamwork must be present so that you`ll come up with something productive. That is why I am so proud and happy that MMA 1-1 already have this tight bond even though we only knew each other for quite some time. MMA 1-1 is not just a section. It is a Family. A family consisting of people from different places bonded by the same dream and goal. Teamwork, cooperation and unity is present.

Week 3: Communication in the Modern Era

The only thing constant in this world is change. As time goes by, people experienced changes that had a direct impact to our modern living nowadays. Our life is a lot more convenient than the lives of our ancestors. This is because of technology. Technology has been a great help to make our lives easier. Through technology, we are able to do things in a lesser amount of time. An example of this is the development of e-mails or electronic mails. Before, people have to write letters and let a mailman deliver that letter to the person addressed. Today, we could just type our message in a computer or laptop, have an internet connection, and we could easily send a message to someone anywhere in the world. See? Technology aims to help people do stuff in an easier way. It helps people to reach out the world with a simple click of a mouse.

The development of technology has been a great advantage for people. With the help of these technological innovations, we are able to discover more about the world we live in. As technology advances, the way of communication also develops.  Communication became more convenient for us. There is the availability for us to talk or chat with relatives or friends around the globe. But as a responsible student, I must learn how to use these technology in the right time and place. I must prioritize more important matters than to talk with friends online. We must use technology in a rightful manner. We must not use technology as a medium to hurt of humiliate others publicly. We must remember that the purpose of the innovation in technology is to help people communicate no matter how far they are from each other. Technology is great. Use it rightfully and do not abuse it.

Week 2: Why Communicate?

Everyone of us wants to be successful in any career path we choose. We deal with different problems and obstacles for us to grow. We face the challenges, we fall, then we go back up again. Communication is a vital part of life. Why? Because without communication, how are we suppose to express our thoughts and opinions in a particular situation? Communication is a part of a man`s daily life. This is because we interact with other people around us, either verbally or non verbally. I communicate to speak my heart out and to share my feelings, emotions, opinions and point-of-view to other people. I communicate to understand others as well. Through communication, I am free to express what`s inside me. I am also capable of understanding what others are trying to say. Through communication, I can seek help and inspiration from other people. This will pursue me to be a better person everyday.
If there is communication, there would be understanding. Therefore, we will have PEACE. The world we live in needs unity. Some countries even engage in war because of rivalry, power and resources. They are not thinking how their countrymen are effected by these savage wars. War only results to destruction and death. We can`t resolve anything by using cruelty and violence. I believe that good communication can resolve these kinds of issues. If they can only decrease their pride and learn to talk things out, then less families would have loss their loved ones. Less families will have their houses destroyed. Less people will be affected. Peace must start within ourselves. We must learn to accept our faults and mistakes. We have to face life with a positive outlook.

Communicate. its free. :)

Week 1: CAS is fun!

Its been a week since I`ve been in college. At first, I was nervous because I`m not actually good at socializing with new people. But as time goes on, I realized that college is a serious matter but we can always find a way to make it more fun and enjoyable. My classmates were all nice and awesome. We did several activities that made me aware of their skills, talents, and capabilities. We talk about random things and tell stories about our experiences. It actually is great to have new friends with the same interests as mine. I already had several close friends, although I`m really looking forward to be friends with the rest of my block mates. By the way, had a general assembly last June 21, 2012. We had a chance to be with our co-CAS students. We also elected the officers for our college department. Three of our classmates - Paolo, Zamantha, and Marion, made it to the list of officers. As classmates, we were all proud of them. I can say that being a part of the CAS family is such a great privilege for me. The CAS department is considered as the most active college department in LPU-Laguna. It is something I`am actually proud of.

DREAM HIGH is the theme of yesterday`s activity, Freshmen day! It was fun, although there are parts of the program that seemed to be boring. Its because of the speaker. He consumed a lot of time explaining the summer program that their company is offering. The summer job is actually interesting because a student might have a chance to go to other countries to work. They will experience something new and at the same time, they will earn money. Good thing the emcees of the program were really energetic and fun! They were students from the CAS department as well. I enjoyed their "kakulitan" so much. I was amazed of LPU-Laguna`s cultural groups. They had intermission numbers. They are the BEST. I can`t believe I`m walking on the same corridors as these awesome people. If I only have that talent to dance, act or sing, I won`t hesitate to join this cultural group. The program lasted for about six and a half hours that`s why I`m starving. Good thing they prepared food for us. In addition to this, Zamantha and Gladwin were chosen to be MMA`s representative for Mr. and Ms. Freshmen. We supported them as much as we can. I shouted a lot for them to win. I had a feeling that I`m going to have sore throat after that but it was all worth it. Although they did`nt win, atleast we gave our best to support them all the way. At last, we tied our dreams up in a balloon and let it fly up in the sky. I hope our dreams will all come true.

To sum it all up, week 1 was awesome. CAS is the best!!!
